Schoolgirl Chic

Asos shirt, Mango Skirt, Zara shoes, Jack Wills head bow

I don't know why, but I definitely have a natural tendency to dress cute. I've worked other looks, tried the whole cool girl thing but, for some reason, nothing else seems to suit me that well and, as they say, if it works, work it. This skirt is a new buy and fits into my existing wardrobe perfectly. I like to wear color but I've always been more drawn to items with interesting textures or shapes and I love the voluminous aspect of this outfit with the billowing shirt combined with the pleated skirt. As I got dressed this morning I thought my outfit looked a bit like that of a schoolgirl, so decided to play on that idea by adding an oversized headbow and my princess shoes, showcased here. Turns out my look was perfect for today's activities as I popped into uni to find out my degree classification (1st class, just in case you were wondering!) Princess Shoes

Zara leather jacket and shoes, Topshop blouse, American Apparel leggings, Louis Vuitton bag

Never one to shy away from a little sparkle, as soon as I saw these beauties in Zara I had to snap them up; I now refer to them as my princess shoes as it's rare to find a shoe that is appropriate for day with all the excitement of an evening shoe.

This weekend has been full of fun escapades and meeting new people and my princess shoes have been perfect for running around in without crippling my feet in 6inch heels. I've always been an advocate of flats and these are no exception - get them here. Until next time stay updated with me on Twitter and Pinterest

Nautical

H&M Jacket, Asos Tee, French Connection Shorts, Topshop Shoes, Moschino Sunglasses

I know I talk about it a lot but, really, the weather dictates so much of what we wear and it's a huge influence on my day to day ensembles. Once again the sun is beaming down upon us meaning my outfits are lighter and brighter and always with an added drop of fun. I adore these Moschine sunglasses and managed to snap them up for rather a bargain a few years ago. The trademark heart is placed right in the middle meaning there's always a little bit of love in my vision when I wear them! I've got an exciting weekend coming up and have spent most of the day buying clothes for it. Be sure to check back to see what I've bought... Until next time catch up with me on Twitter and Pinterest.

Check Mate

Vintage shirt, Ark jumper, Topshop jeans, Converse

I've been wanting to wear this little ensemble for a while now and, seeing as the sun is not playing nice, I decided that I would showcase my new jumper underneath a sky of clouds today. It's lovely and cosy and perfect for keeping off the summer chill.

Usually my style is fairly girly and feminine, but every once in a while it's nice to experiment with a different look. I love the geeky androgyny to this outfit and the contrasting textures to the jumper and shirt. It's also unusual for me to wear dark under light but, with the light blue of the check peeking through, it uplifts the ensemble just enough to work. Soft layers are perfect for this time of year and jumpers in lighter hues will instantly give your wardrobe more of a summer vibe.

Umbrella Weather

Ralph Lauren shirt, Barbour jacket, Vintage Levi's, Zara belt, Topshop loafers

I love my vintage Levi's; they're actually way too big for me now and so I really should invest in a new pair. Somehow I can't quite manage it though as I've grown so fond of this pair. They're so easy and breezy and great for running around the city in. I've juxtaposed my shorts with a country bumpkin quilted Barbour jacket. I've had it for years now but as my style evolves it appears less and less. I'll never get rid of it though, it's definitely a forever piece and I love to bring it out every now and then for nostalgic reasons. It's also pretty good protection against the Mancunian rain!

Jubilee

Zara leather jacket and belt, Asos tee, Vintage Levi's, Topshop shoes, Louis Vuitton bag

I love a bit of thematic dressing and when better to be patriotic than the Jubilee weekend? I don't really wear red, ever, so I've not managed to incorporate that into my outfit but I've got two out of the three colours so I'm hoping that will be enough!

I love the fluid movement of my American Apparel cape and the silhouette sits perfectly against my floral dress. Monday's outfit was a bit edgier so today I've opted for something a bit more girly and feminine. I hope everyone has enjoyed the Jubilee weekend, until next time see you on Twitter and Pinterest

Listening to...

Last night we watched Footloose for the first time (always gotta love a good dance movie). My housemate and I have this deluded idea that we can dance (!) so afterwards we pushed all the furniture to the side of our living room and danced to all the songs 'til 1am. Fun is not over-rated. This is one of the songs from the movie and perfectly sums up my happy mood right now. Have a great weekend everyone. 'Til next time stay updated on Twitter and Pinterest
