Up until recently, I was blissfully unaware just how difficult it is to find a place to live in London! Factor in a blizzard and it's basically mission impossible. I'm facing the elements in plenty of layers (I also have a cardigan on under my big winter jumper) with the hope of finding a place to call home. Flying Away

My cape doesn't make nearly as many appearances as it should as it's such a fun yet core item in my wardrobe. I suppose the less often you bring a piece out the more special and exciting it becomes. I put this rather statement necklace on with my shirt in an effort to bling things up a little and decided it looked a bitlike a jazzier version of a Texas necktie: thoughts?

New Discoveries

Since buying my Louis Vuitton Speedy back in May the other bags in my closet have somewhat been lacking attention. I adore my Louis, although, difficulty in finding things in it is somewhat of an understatement. At which point I have re-discovered this beautiful, tan leather bag from Zara. The colour is perfect, the detail  perpetual and the size is amazing for girls like me who love to carry all those unnecessary items around. Yasmin X GoGo Philip

I've been a huge fan of GoGo Philip jewellery since I discovered it in Topshop a while ago, so, imagine my excitement when I got the press release through of the collaborative collection with singer Yasmin (I'm sure you can imagine my excitement even more when I received these earrings in the post!) The collection captures the true essence of the genre-defining 80s and brings in style influences from iconic girl groups and artists from across the decade. The collection is fun, forward and definitely makes a statements with large, geometric shapes with an array of reds, blacks and golds. 

The cool glamour of the collection really shines through each piece and it's clear that the style from both parties has been incorporated for brilliant results. These earrings are definitely my favourite from the collection but I also adore the gold chains and statement rings, all of which are bursting with vibrant style. Yasmin comments: "Gogo Philip really is the label to go to if you want cool glamorous pieces 

and I love the ‘Made In Italy’ tag – it takes me back to Versace in the 80’s!  It was really

Black and White Birds

Due to unfortunate weather conditions, I'm afraid I've been confined to the four walls of my bedroom for photographs today; whilst ever I'm apologising I suppose I should also mention my lack of attention to HSW in the last couple of weeks - sometimes one can feel so uninspired by ones wardrobe (although severe lack of money and no job to mention of certainly isn't helping.) Despite this, now that I've moved back home I have been reunited with parts of my wardrobe that haven't seen the light of day in a long time, if at all, and rediscovered treasures, such as this bird print shirt, are helping to reignite my love of clothes once again. Princess Shoes

Never one to shy away from a little sparkle, as soon as I saw these beauties in Zara I had to snap them up; I now refer to them as my princess shoes as it's rare to find a shoe that is appropriate for day with all the excitement of an evening shoe. 

This weekend has been full of fun escapades and meeting new people and my princess shoes have been perfect for running around in without crippling my feet in 6inch heels. Jubilee

I love a bit of thematic dressing and when better to be patriotic than the Jubilee weekend? I don't really wear red, ever, so I've not managed to incorporate that into my outfit but I've got two out of the three colours so I'm hoping that will be enough!

I love the fluid movement of my American Apparel cape and the silhouette sits perfectly against my floral dress. Summer Stripes

It's my best friend's 21st birthday tomorrow so it's been a fairly crazy 18 hours. Last night we went for dinner and drinks at which I showcased my new bow-back striped vest. I love stripes anyway, but my love for them seems to grow to new levels when the sun comes out. They're so chic yet so easy, even now I find it difficult to get my head around how something so simple can always look so right. I added my favourite GoGo philip gold necklace, which I showcased here; I'm really into clashing silver and gold at the moment, which I know a lot of people are quite adverse to, but my overly relaxed summer nature has started to grow on the idea so I teamed it with silver sandals and bracelet. 

This morning has been ridiculous and I've been rushing around like a mad lunatic in the sweltering heat running last minute birthday errands. I also had to pick up the birthday cake and get it from shop to home without dropping it (anyone who knows my clumsy nature would appreciate the challenge it was). My housemate and I found a moment of calm in the earlier hours of this morning to take a few snaps of today's striped outfit; a little more relaxed than last night and breezy enough to stay at a reasonably bearable temperature. I decided to use my Canon DSLR today; I think I've been a bit lazy of late using my little Nikon 'snapshot' camera because the Canon is quite cumbersome but, really, it captures the light and movement so well that I know I need to start bringing it out more often.

Simple Ensemble

Today was the day of my final final which means exams are over and I have my life back. It's kind of a daunting feeling, no more uni ever again, EVER. It's also kinda scary. To document this very happy day I've chosen a simple ensemble that was comfortable for my 8am start and 3 hour exam but stylish enough for a bit of a celebration afterwards. 

Wearing all black is always chic and the perfect option when you want to look sophisticated but really all you have time for is to throw on an outfit and run. Make sure you add some colour through your accessories to give your outfit a lift; I'm really in to oversized clutches at the moment as they're super chic but relaxed enough for the day time. Now that exams are over I'm looking forward to dedicating a little more time to HSW, I'm sure you've noticed that I've been somewhat absent of late.

Muted Tones

Apologies for the lack of outfit posts of late. I've been suffering from a rather severe case of 'fashion flu' and thought the fewer people to see my red nose, the better.

Recently, I've been talking and thinking rather a lot about the transition into spring and what that means for our wardrobes. I feel as if I need to take my own advice; going on about the importance of colour at this time of year when alas, I appear to still be focusing my wardrobe around a neutral colour palette. However, I do feel that I've taken one step in the right direction because at least I'm not wearing anything black, for once. 

The Cape

Just a quick one tonight as I'm going away in the morning for a long weekend and I've got about a billion things to do before then, including deciding what to wear! Today has been a super nice day, the sun has been shining in all it's glory; I seriously wish I'd thought to wear my sunnies. I bought this American Apparel cape over the weekend and it's the perfect addition to my wardrobe. I've been needing a navy jacket/coat for some time now and this fits into my wardrobe perfectly. Today I've kept my look simple and casual as I've got that end of the week feeling. Checkmate

Here is what I wore yesterday and to celebrate the start of LFW I've gone for that laidback, cool look that so many of us British girls love. I adore this vintage shirt, find similar here, it's so effortless but comfy all at once and perfect for those days where you're running around with a million things to do. 

LFW started yesterday and I've been eyeing up the shows from Preen (colourful tailoring) to PPQ (sophisticated outerwear) and Basso and Brooke (print heaven). Double U

Hola chicas e chicos! Once again, apologies for not providing regular updates onto the blog this week. I know you've heard it all before but I really do have a lot going on right now. But moving swiftly on from that, last night the girls and I headed out for a 'sophisticated' night out. I think we're all getting a bit sick out going out to student clubs because these places are such dives. The night started out fabulously and we went to an amazing bar in Manchester that served even more amazing cocktails. After that we headed over to a tiki bar which was super duper fun, slightly less sophisticated though but needless to say, we are still students for a little while longer. 

So, getting on to the important stuff. We are, after all, heard to write and read about fashion. My Topshop  shoes which I showcased to you here had their first outing last night. They are SO high but surprisingly my feet are in pretty good shape today. When buying shoes with a mega heel, such as these, the trick is to always go for a pair with a thick platform on the sole as this usually takes a good inch or two off the actually heel height. Going for something with a thicker heel is also much more comfortable and much easier to walk in. Last night I was planning on wearing my new pleated metallic midi skirt, but unfortunately it's still a little small (I bought a size smaller as I'm in the process of losing a few pounds), so I'm afraid it's debut will have to wait a while longer. On a positive, at least there was no attention being taken away from my shoes. To compliment them, I've gone for a simple all black ensemble. Shape is important when you're wearing all one colour, especially a dark one. If you've got nothing interesting going on it's easy to just blend into the background. This 'double U' leotard from American Apparel is great; versatile, chic and seriously sexy, it's a must for every girls wardrobe! I always think the back is the best part of your body if you want to flash a bit of skin, it's elegant and sophisticated and if done correctly, it's seriously seductive. I've gone for some smart tailored shorts and a flash of colour with my yellow asos belt and a swipe of dark red lipstick to bring the look together and give it a bit of a pop, et voila!
